return of the rebellion

sounds like a starwars movie...hehe...return of the rebellion...but seriously, what is this all about?! (she says with extreme indignation) how can we, who had seemingly understood the ramifications, and have openly claimed to be leading the healthy lifestyle movement, be phasing smoking back in?! in high school i had a couple handfuls of friends who smoked, and then in university this trend seemed to drop off (let the readers note that all smoking related dialogue in this entry refers to that of the cigarette persuasion)

suddenly i have seen a seepage. thats right you heard me...its sneakily working its way back into being cool, to being "in". it starts off with the odd drag at a party (like you "just cant explain how much i needed that") then its just a social smoke...the odd ciggie when at a party or bar...and people tend to find this acceptable. it is seemingly "totally ok" to smoke cigarettes, even deemed to be stylish, until you (gasp) purchase a pack. horror of horrors the actual purchase...tainted in the 7-11 as you lower your head (with a flash-back to underage moments) and hesitantly gesture to what you want, with a muttered "make it quick".


funny isn't it? how come you can smoke 'em, but you cant buy 'em? the real question is...if you plan on having a smoke, how can you claim reprieve simply by avoiding the taboo retail experience... because ps... in order to have that social drag...it had to have been purchased somewhere! when did it start to be cool again, i was just commenting on how lucky we are in our smoke "free" province, when i realised, that there seems to be a switch in ideals. i cant help but wonder...is it perhaps the banning of it that made it so appealing? long live the rebellion burbling within all of us, and here's to hoping that there is an awakening to more proactive-less self-harming protest... sigh...silly rabbit...
