well i know you always prepare yourself for the unknown when you renovate...yet you always hope it won't be you. and it can still catch you off guard. when we ripped down the walls we found a few. 1 - a wee touch of asbestos 2 - knob and tube, very live, and even live ends (some next to metal ducts...eek) 3 - joist hangers with no screws. anywhere. 4 - a 2-inch valley in our floors 5 - a water and sewer line directly under our new wall (found during excavation) hooorayyyy. but you know what? we have already jumped so a little higher is nothing but good exercise
