so i must say i am pretty proud of my packing. we went on a ten day trip and i left with only 15 kilos in my suitcase...imagine! i know i know...none of you believe me, but i am being honest!
angela, lyndon and i arrived in dublin april 7 and stayed with erin and andrew for a few days. their apartment is great, good location, and pretty spacious...but it will put in perspective the n.a. view of spacious vs the euro view. (first thing we noticed about dublin....they have palm trees......how on earth in a freezing cold climate to they manage that)
it was so great to see erin, we missed her a ton since she's been gone and we had a great time getting to know andrew better. we went to some yummy restuarants, and did some fabulous shoppping (please tell me when topshop is going to hit n.a.). we cooked in one night and wandered the city of dublin....one negative comment...rainy and cold (all i have to say is ...layers)...it actually hailed enought to require shovelling at one point too....but we did have some
sunshine too, thought it never really got "warm". we drove to belfast and saw tons and tons of sheep...and erin is always baffled at the lack of wool stores in the country! (aside: on a tour we went on in scotland we found out why...it costs the farmers 60p to sheer the sheep and they make 30p from the wool...not so lucrative) Belfast was dead...nobody was out...again maybe the fabulous weather...ick....but we still had a great day and we all really apreciated lyndon for taking on the task of driving on the left side of the road (he did quite well).
angela, lyn and i flew to edinburgh (ryan air flight cost us 20euros...um hello why wouldn't we fly?)
(PROPS to jon for the recommendation) and were flabergasted (yes i am 60 yrs old) at the city. it was so beautiful! as if they
go to work right beside a castle every day! we went to a tartan factory, and walked the royal mile, and bought tons of chocolate...we couldn't help ourselves...it was vacation....the city was amazing and we are sorry we didnt have more time. we took a day trip to the highlands and saw more sheep, and the countryside was beautiful...we went to stirling a pretty little town that totally warrents a visit. we went
on a boat cruise of loch lead (fyi there were insane people sea-dooing on the loch...have i mentioned what the weather was like...freezing and rainy...must be mcmillans) and we are fairly sure there were celebrities on the boat too, but that is a whole other kettle of fish. the food in scotland is anything deep fried. deep fried fish deep fried potates, deep fried mars bars...to be honest we mostly ate italian ;) we were sad to leave edinburgh, but all agreed we'd visit again!....on to london
