well i was anyways...last night i did the hot yoga thing for the first time. its called moksha yoga in oakville http://mokshayogaoakville.com/ and it was - as erin b. warned me it would be - the best and the worst all rolled into 90 minutes. at first it felt nice like when you relax in the sauna, then the exercises started, and twice i thought "well this is it, i am actually fainting", but i gathered my strength, shook out the cobwebs, and made it through the class....i was drenched though after. ick. but it wasn't really all that icky somehow...i guess cause it was water sweat, anyways i'm hooked and going back for another suicidal night, even though erin and i got in trouble for talking...yikes its a junior high flash back! (ps jos, you would never last)
i love the summer cause it gets me reading again. I have read the following so far, "night" (oprah pick that i didn't love), "the dog whisperer" (really good insight on my little bernicey), "the secret life of bees" (ok not amazing but a good read), "the swallows of kabul" (amazing insight into the afgan culture, very eye-opening), then i read the "sweetness in the belly" (amazing story, just different then i usually read...liked it alot), then "the devil wears prada" (so-so), now i am reading "luck" (so far its ok, nothing amazing though, but its keeping me interested). i like to read the giller prize winners, and then try to figure out why they won...sometimes i totally get it - like "life of pi" and "sweetness in the belly", but other times i draw blanks.
holly and i had our third annual garage sale on sat, and well we got rained out...very rained out in fact. but we did make some awesome sales prior to the downpour. i must say that the garage sale shoppers out there make up a "motley cru". we had people missing limbs, and chatters, and close talkers, and wanna be snobs, and they were all pushy and outspoken. some gave advice on how we should better market ourselves (ie balloons, better signage), others turned up there nose when they saw that our merchandise was - gasp - "used". well we didn't realize we were competing with the gap, so i offer our apologies on behalf of our mediocre attempt --- ps...its a GARAGE SALE you freaks! wake up oakville, if you want to shop - go to the mall, if you want a bargain - hit the saturday am. driveways...we'll be there bright and early for the fourth annual next summer -- see you then.
