the ipad 2 came out in canada today, merely one year after the first revolutionary ipad. it was inevitable. the first was great but lacking obvious features - a camera, longer memory, and colour option. conveniently enough apple thought of these things in the nick of time to produce a second version. phew. hey i dont judge them. why not do it. tonight we went to sherway and when we pulled into the parking lot we were greeted by a line of people that wrapped out the door and around the exterior of pottery barn...it dawned on us. it was for the new ipad. amazing that there are that many people ready and elbowing sharply still at 6pm to plunk down $600 (especially when im sure the ipad 3 is in production ;)) dont get me wrong i love them. lyndon is the owner of one of the first models, and they. are. wicked. it just made me stop and wish hard that i owned a ton of apple stock....sigh.
ps talk about marketing initiative - i saw on the apple home page today an ad saying "help kids in american schools by donating your old ipad" wow. what better excuse for buying a brand spanking new product. kudos to apple. brill.

This will probably be Jay's favourite post of yours...Apple fan through and through...he feels loyal to the company to buy anything and everything they produce (although will confess to saying they make horrible earphones)...so we'll see what reason he comes up with for purchasing the new ipad...it's inevitable!!
ditto to stephanie's post. steve (and i) are apple through and through. my claim to fame is that i saw the ipad 2 in michigan 2 weeks before it came out here. steve was SUPER jealous. yesterday in yorkdale he saw it for the first time and literally had a 5 year old little boy look on his face. oh man. he is hooked.
