i kid you not - we saw romans literally filling their water bottles from fountains....all over the city! (aside: i did research on this because i was losing sleep about the sheer germ recklessness - it turns out that the fountains in rome were actually hooked up to the original aqueducts and back in the day were the source of fresh drinking water for the romans - that being said, im pretty sure the kid i saw hocking a loogie into the trevi, next to the one washing his hands next to the lady filling her cup probably nixes the "fresh clean drinking water" function.)**in jason's defense - this was a reenactment
