four legs are soo last season

my poor little bernice is having a rough week. she hurt her leg again, just playing around...no big event, she just started being wimpy and whiney. so we took her to the vet yesterday expecting the inevitable. we have to amputate her wee little leg. the poor little dog has been through so much and all before her second birthday (which by the way is aug 20th ;)) the vets assure us that she will be better than ever, but its still a horribly hard decision to have to make...and frankly i feel sick about it. its one of the hardest things ive had to do so far.

many would scoff and say im being dramatic, but to me, in my life...this is a big deal. i know that she will be fine, but i really felt conflicted making the decision. mark once said something to me that i think was the one of the few things we agreed on completely....whatever the worst thing you have in your life is, its as valid as the worst things in anyone else's life. im not saying the things are on par (having trouble finding the right pair of shoes for a dress is not equal to having trouble finding enough to eat)....what im saying is, in sad times or low moments, your feelings and emotions are justifiably valid and are as true as those of anyone else in their personal low moments. and today, as i left b at the vets, i felt low.

but as i talked with maris today, i realised that this will be ok, and i stopped looking at it as "what a sad decision to make, was it the right one?" to seeing it as "the decision has been made, where do we go from here" and i think the only rational thing to do when you get a bad haircut (and bernice will have a doozy...i even asked the vet to shave as little as possible) is to get a new wardrobe! so bernice is getting new shirts, hoodies etc. to feature her cuteness, and draw attention away from her ....well you know....and anyways...aren't four legs so last season?!

Heather my heart goes out to you. Our dogs mean the absolute world to us and having this little incident happen must have been scary. Bernice will bounce back as she's a fighter and has such a wonderful personality. Can't wait to see all the fun shirts you made.
