dont you agree! exclamation marks can change the entire tone of a piece of writing! i often use them when i am making sure that people arent misreading my emails as being negative...put a happy spin on the tone. mariss and i were working on some content for a website last night and we were trying to keep an upbeat tempo in the wording...anytime we were doubtful we said "add an exclamation mark!" haha...we editted alot out at the end, but see how it changes something; "free diamonds...yah right" or "free diamonds...yah right!" - i took it from sarcastic skepticism to excited disbelief. fun right?! ...i love english...
i learned tuesday night that i do have a good watch dog. tuesday night around 1:30am bernice started grumbling loudly, she woke us up to let her down and then she started little barks in the living room. i listened and heard voices. so i peeked out my window to see 4 guys about my age, standing on each others shoulders (virtually outside my bedroom window) fiddling with the street sign (that i use as a landmark to find my driveway)... we watched them, and they stole it and ran to their cherokee and threw it in the trunk....odd. i get it when people steal signs with funny names, or double meanings, but this sign said "no access to appleby college from suffolk dr".... : ok so i am clearly missing something. maybe they are appleby alumni, who just wanted a sign that said their school name...odd theft i thought. it reminded me of how clueless we are to how loud we sound when everything is quiet. like when erin and i got "spoken to" in yoga for whispering... note to self: in future when stealing street signage, dont speak - good and true advice doncha think ;)ps. i think i will patent the "wah wah" sound

You are so right about exclamation marks. They do add excitement to a sentence. I'm sure you have read "Eat, Shoots & Leaves". That book is great in explaining how important punctuation can be or least how poor punctuation can change the meaning of a sentence.
As for your little crime fighter Bernice...that is a crazy story. My first thought it that the guys must have been from Appleby College. There is no other viable explanation. I am disappointed that Lyndon didn’t go out there and kick some butt!! I am impressed with your guard dog...who says you can't be cute and tough!
p.s did the guy take the flower pot too?…haha
